Terms of Service — Apilingual
The plain-language terms for using Apilingual: your account, the content you import, acceptable use, and beta status.
Last updated: 24 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Apilingual — this website and the Apilingual app. By creating an account or using Apilingual, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service and its beta status
Apilingual turns real books, podcasts, and videos into language lessons and helps you build vocabulary. Apilingual is currently in beta and is free to use. There are no paid plans, subscriptions, or payments. Because it is beta software, features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may occasionally be unavailable.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Please provide accurate information when signing up and let us know if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
- An account is for a single person; do not share it.
Content you import
Apilingual is built around content you bring: text you paste or upload, ebooks (EPUB and text-layer PDF), audio files, and video captions imported through the browser extension. You keep ownership of what you import — we do not claim it.
You are responsible for the material you import. By importing content, you confirm that you own it or otherwise have the right to use it for your personal language learning. Do not import material you do not have the rights to. You grant Apilingual permission to process your imported content — including storing it and using AI and language providers to generate lessons, drills, translations, and grammar analysis — solely to provide the service to you. Apilingual does not redistribute or publish your imported content to other users, and does not redistribute copyrighted material.
Acceptable use
When using Apilingual, you agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights, including copyright;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its infrastructure;
- use the service to build a competing dataset or product, or to resell access;
- upload malware or attempt to harm other users.
Our intellectual property
Apilingual — including the app, the website, and its design — belongs to us. These Terms do not give you any rights to our trademarks or software beyond using the service as intended.
No warranty
Apilingual is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. Language analysis, translations, and drills are generated automatically and may contain errors; they are a learning aid, not a substitute for professional instruction or advice. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular learning outcome will result.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Apilingual and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Since Apilingual is free during beta, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid to use it — which is nothing.
Termination
You may stop using Apilingual and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we need to for legal, security, or operational reasons. You can request deletion of your account and its data by contacting us.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above; continued use of Apilingual after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Privacy
Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
