Features
Everything Apilingual does with real language.
From the book on your shelf to the video in your feed — here is how Apilingual turns the content you actually care about into lessons, tracks every word you meet, and brings it back until it sticks.
Import
Import anything you want to read or hear.
Apilingual doesn't hand you a fixed catalogue. You bring the content you already want — a novel, an article, a podcast, a whole audiobook, a YouTube video — and it becomes a read-along lesson with every word tracked. There are five ways in, each turning a different kind of source into something you can actually read.
- Text Paste an article or upload a document, and it becomes a single lesson.
- Ebooks EPUB and text-layer PDF files become a course — one lesson per chapter. Scanned or image-only PDFs are rejected: there's no OCR, so the text has to already live in the file.
- Single audio An MP3, M4A, or WAV is transcribed automatically into a read-along lesson.
- Whole audiobook Drop in many audio files at once and get a full course — one lesson per file, each transcribed with read-along audio.
- YouTube Send a video straight from your browser with the Apilingual Chrome extension, and it lands in your library as a read-along lesson.
Read
A reader that reads with you.
Every lesson opens in the reader, where nothing is a dead end. Tap any word for its meaning without leaving the page, and watch the text colour itself as you go — each word carries a status, from new to learning to known, so you can always see exactly where you stand. Play the audio and the sentence you're on lights up as it's spoken, so reading and listening pull in the same direction.
Vocabulary
Your vocabulary, out in the open.
Most apps bury your progress inside an algorithm. Apilingual makes your vocabulary a first-class object: every word you've met, the status it's in, and a mastery score built from how you actually perform — recognising a word when you read it, recalling it when you're prompted, and producing it yourself. Search the whole bank whenever you like; it's a record of the language you own, not a black box.
Practice
Practice that arrives right on time.
Reading builds understanding; practice makes it stick. The words you're still learning feed a spaced-repetition system that schedules each review for the moment you're about to forget it — not on a fixed daily calendar. Sessions mix recognition, recall, and production, so a word isn't finished because you've seen it enough times; it's finished when you can actually use it. The hard words come back sooner, the ones you've made yours fade into the background.
Start from zero
Guided stories that start at zero.
Not everything has to be imported. Apilingual's guided stories begin at the very start of a language and carry you through whole CEFR levels in a handful of chapters, each built to introduce the right new words in the right order. They're a structured way back in for post-beginners re-entering a language they've half-forgotten — and a genuine starting line for complete beginners. Available in all six languages.
Courses
Everything you import becomes a course.
Import a book or an audiobook and Apilingual builds a course from it — chapter by chapter, file by file — so a long work stays organised instead of turning into a pile of loose lessons. Your library holds every course you've made and every collection you're working through, all in one place, ready to pick up exactly where you left off.
